Drapers is inviting you to show off your visual merchandising skills in our annual Christmas windows competition for independent fashion retailers.

  • To take part in this year's competition, email drapers@emap.com with at least three clear photos of the windows from different angles, as well as the name and location of the shop by Monday, 23 December.

Womenswear boutique The Dressing Room in St Albans is the first independent to submit photographs of its Christmas window, which feature oversized paper baubles and strings of fairy lights accompanying the The Dressing Room's selection of party season occasionwear.

As in previous years, the winner will be featured in the first print edition of Drapers next year.

Last year's winner was womenswear boutique Jane Young in Newark-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire, whose imaginative interpretation of the 12 Days of Christmas "brought the community together," with daily reveals of characters including the partridge in a pear tree, five gold rings and 12 drummers drumming, all made with fabric scraps collected over the year.

Highly commended went to McElhinneys in Ballybofy, County Donegal, whose creative manager Richard Crawford's "The Land of Awe and Wonder" was influenced by his love of fantasy and sci-fi film.

To take part in this year's competition, email drapers@emap.com with at least three clear, high-resolution photos of the windows from different angles, as well as the name and location of the shop by Monday, 23 December.
