In just two days, Christmas will be here. While families typically wake up to Santa's arrival and focus on opening their stockings and presents under the tree, there's a possibility you'll need to make a last-minute Christmas Eve or Christmas Day run to the grocery store.
However, not all of them remain open during the holiday. Many shut down to give their employees the day off to celebrate with family and friends.
If you need to make a Christmas Day purchase for a missing dinner ingredient or secure last-minute presents on Christmas Eve, you'll want to know which stores operate at normal or reduced hours.
CVS
CVS locations will be open or closed based on each store's discretion, but many plan to operate their normal schedule on Christmas.
You should call ahead to check, however, as some locations that are not open 24 hours could be on reduced hours or closed entirely.
Walgreens
Walgreens is another store that plans to be open on Christmas Day. However, hours will be adjusted to 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Grocery Stores Closed on Christmas
Many of America's favorite grocery stores will close their doors for Christmas Day but most continue to operate normal hours on Christmas Eve.
Walmart
This includes retail giant Walmart, which is shutting up shop at 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve.
Target
Target is also closed on Christmas Day while operating normal hours on December 26.
HEB
Texas-based chain HEB is also closed on Christmas, one of two days the store shuts down each year.
Costco, Kroger and Aldi also plan to be closed so employees can spend the holiday with their families.
Aldi
Aldi said it would close at 4 p.m. Christmas Eve and be closed the entire Christmas Day.
Whole Foods
Whole Foods, which remained open on Thanksgiving, is also shut down for the day.
Dollar General
For those who continue to shop on a budget on the Christmas holiday, most Dollar Generals will close as usual at 10 p.m. on Christmas Eve depending on location. However, on Christmas Day, don't expect to make any last-minute purchases.
Publix
The Southeastern supermarket chain Publix will be open on a relatively normal schedule on Christmas Eve, but all stores will close on Christmas Day.
Sprouts
Sprouts follows a similar holiday schedule, operating from around 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. depending on location on Christmas Eve and then closing for Christmas Day.
Wegmans
Wegmans, which operates hundreds of stores in eight states, will close at 6 p.m. Christmas Eve but shut up shop on Christmas Day for most locations.
If you're in need of a quick caffeine fix or snack, many fast-food chains are operating on Christmas Day. That includes Starbucks, Denny's, McDonald's, IHOP and Waffle House.
Americans should expect all major banks to be closed for the federal holiday, but online banking services will still be available.
