When your mum is one of the wealthiest women in Hollywood and has unimaginable access to the latest in fashion, beauty, and beyond, what on Earth do you get her for her birthday? For North West, who just celebrated mum Kim Kardashian’s birthday, the answer was something flashy with a sentimental nod—kind of, depending on who you ask.
Sharing the birthday love she received on her Instagram Stories, Kardashian, who turned 44 on October 21, revealed that her eldest daughter had gifted her a sparkling diamond pavé necklace featuring a silver plaque with a custom message engraved on it.
“Okay, North got me this diamond necklace that says, ‘Skibidi toilet’… Wow,” she says in the video with an imperceptible tone.
It was not quite the timeless note of love we’d expect, but it did at least make her mum laugh.
Out of sight, West, 11, can be heard explaining her unique choice of words.
“Because you love Skibidi toilet,” she says to Kardashian, who questions the assertion.
“I do?… I do,” she jokes, to which her daughter reassures her.
“Yes.”
On the back was a sweeter message, with “Love, North” and Kardashian’s birthday date.
It’s not quite comparable to the array of Dior jewellery and accessories Kardashian gifted West for her tenth birthday, but a diamond necklace from an eleven-year-old? Much more glam than the rest of us, despite the divisive inscription. And besides, it’s the thought that counts, right?
For those not across the phrasing, Skibidi Toilet is a YouTube series by Alexey Gerasimov comprised of clips that follow a fictional war between human-headed toilets and cyborgs.
The phrase has become a mainstay of Gen Z/Alpha Internet jargon, with ‘Skibdi’ typically used as a catalyst for a deeply unserious, brain-rotting conversation.
