The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force reported that three individuals were shot during the altercation. 
Deputy Duncan was pronounced dead at the scene, while local resident Dario Stubbs, 30, succumbed to his injuries at a nearby hospital. 
A third victim, a 29-year-old man, is currently receiving medical treatment. Authorities have stated that there is no evidence to suggest that Duncan, Stubbs or the injured man were the intended targets of the shooting.

The Cook County Sheriff's Office expressed profound sorrow over Duncan's death, highlighting her dedication to service and her role as a mother and grandmother. 
Her son, Shamon Payton, recounted the tragic event, stating, "People started yelling, telling people to 'get down, everybody got down,' and my mom got up. And then, she got hit… Bystanders came and they tried to help."

As of Tuesday, January 21, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting. 
The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force is actively investigating the incident and has urged anyone with information to come forward. 
Acting Commissioner Rodney Adams emphasized the importance of community assistance in solving the case.
