Coronation Street's Mason Radcliffe actor Luca Toolan has been tipped to join a rival soap following his character's tragic exit from the ITV soap
Coronation Street's Luca Toolan might be heading to a competing soap after his surprising departure from the cobbles.
Luca rose to prominence playing the role of bully Mason Radcliffe on the ITV soap, making his first appearance in 2023. He quickly stirred up plenty of drama on the cobbles.
Soap fans were appalled as they watched him torment Maria Connor's (Samia Longchambon) young son, Liam Connor (Charlie Wrenshall), to the point where Liam contemplated suicide.
Mason was eventually sent to a Young Offenders centre for threatening Liam with a knife. However, he was later released and returned to the cobbles, determined to reform his life and distance himself from his violent family - including brothers Logan (Harry Lowbridge) and Matty (Seamus McGoff).
However, this week saw a terrifying twist when Mason's brothers tracked him down. Disaster struck when Matty and Logan stabbed him with Dylan Wilson's (Liam McCheyne) zombie knife, reports Lancs Live.
Abi Franklin (Sally Carman), whose own son Seb Franklin (Harry Visinoni) tragically died following an attack in 2021, made desperate attempts to save him. As the ambulance arrived, Mason was rushed to hospital. However, it was soon revealed that Mason had tragically passed away, leaving the cobbles in shock over the devastating news.
Following the departure of Mason actor Luca from the soap, there's speculation that he could soon be seen on a rival soap. Exclusive odds from Betway suggest that Luca is at 20/1 to land a role on BBC's EastEnders.
His chances of popping up in Emmerdale are slightly less likely at 25/1. Meanwhile, his odds of appearing on reality shows like I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! and Strictly are much shorter at 4/1.
Dom Aldworth, Head of Brand Marketing at Slingo, believes that Luca's exit from the soap has opened up some exciting opportunities for him. "A move to another soap seems like a natural step. His skill in playing multi-layered roles could make him a strong fit for EastEnders, where he could bring his intensity to the Mitchells," he suggested.
He also mentioned Hollyoaks as a potential destination, saying: "Similarly, Hollyoaks offers the chance to explore fast-paced, action-driven storylines that would highlight his versatility."
But soaps aren't the only option for Luca. Dom added: "Luca's commanding presence and emotional range make him a strong contender for roles in crime dramas, thrillers, or period pieces, where complex characters take centre stage."
Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX
