Daniel O'Donnell announces sad death of his nephew Frankie

Daniel O'Donnell has announced the death of his nephew, Frankie O'Donnell.

The country music singer thanked fans for their support and asked for continued prayers in the wake of the sad news.

Frankie, known to many as Bosco, is survived by his wife, three children and extended family members.

Daniel wrote on social media: "It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of my dear nephew Frankie (Bosco) O Donnell. Frankie passed away this morning surrounded by his family. He will be sadly missed by his wife Lisa and their children Sarah, Logan and Ryan, his parents, my brother John and his wife Bridget and Frankie’s brother Joey and all the extended family.

"Thank you for all your prayers over the past few months and I would ask you to keep his family in your prayers at this very difficult time."

Tributes have poured in for Frankie as well-wishers sent their condolences to Daniel.

"Prayers for you and the family," one person shared on Facebook.

"So sad to hear about the loss of your nephew. Condolences to all of you," another said.

"Sorry to hear the sad news of your nephew Frankie may he rest in peace Sympathy to you all," a third person wrote.

While a fourth added: "So sorry for your great loss Daniel and family. May God give you all strength."

Sharing his nephew's funeral details, the Donegal native continued: "Frankie's body will be reposing at Mc Glynns funeral home Dungloe on Friday at 5pm with rosary at 8pm followed by removal to his house in Keadue. Wake will continue on Saturday from 10am with rosary at 8pm. Funeral Sunday at 1pm in Kincasslagh followed by burial in Belcruit cemetery. House private the morning of funeral."
