David & Victoria Beckham Think This A-Lister Is ‘A Little Weird’ For ‘Bombarding’ Them With Hangout Requests

Like many busy adults, especially those in Hollywood, Victoria and David Beckham have seen some friendships fade. They used to consider Prince Harry and Meghan Markle close friends, but now their relationship is more of a “frenemy” situation, particularly between Meghan and Victoria. Although they haven’t completely cut off the Sussexes, they also aren’t exactly champing at the bit to socialize with Harry and Meghan.

This type of friendship dynamic is making it tricky for the Beckhams to manage another former friend they tried to reconnect with last year, who wasn’t interested. Now, this person is reportedly “bombarding” the Beckhams with requests to meet up as he plans to move into one of their neighborhoods Stateside.

Enter Tom Cruise, who is apparently very eager to rekindle his friendship with the Beckhams as he prepares to relocate to Florida, where he has a penthouse in Clearwater. The Hollywood star, known for his ties to Scientology, has a history with the couple dating back to his marriage with Katie Holmes. Back then, Cruise extended a warm welcome to David and Victoria when they first moved to Los Angeles, helping them navigate the celebrity scene.

“Tom is going to be spending more time in Florida and is hitting up the Beckhams,” an insider told InTouch Weekly, emphasizing Cruise’s determination to reconnect.

However, the Beckhams are reportedly hesitant to return the favor. “They think he’s a little weird — he has to control every social situation, and they’re not into that!” the source added. When the Beckhams tried to reconnect with Cruise back in August 2023, the Mission Impossible star reportedly felt a tinge of animosity, believing the Beckhams owe him for his past favors — like this friendship.

Despite Cruise’s eagerness, the Beckhams are keeping him at a distance, and it makes sense, given his past attempts to recruit them into the Church of Scientology. Still, Cruise persists, “bombarding them and saying he can’t wait to hang out,” according the insider.

“They aren’t blowing him off completely,” says the insider. “They’ve responded once or twice but they’re not committing to anything.”

While the Beckhams are not entirely dismissing Cruise — he did make an appearance at Posh’s 50th birthday party last April — they seem content keeping him at arm’s length, at least for now.
