Davina McCall reveals ‘crusty’ scars a month on from shock brain surgery

Davina McCall has shown off her impressive scars after needing to get a benign tumour removed from her brain last month.

The TV presenter underwent a craniotomy on November 15 after a random health check discovered the mass.

She has been sharing updates through her partner Michael Douglas but returned to social media herself earlier this month.

Davina, 57, appeared to be recovering well and was all smiles as her hairdresser partner prepared to give her a haircut — her first since the surgery.

The former Big Brother host wanted some ‘pampering’ before they hosted friends that evening and Michael, 50, was more than happy to help.

During a video posted on Instagram, Davina showed off some gaps in her hair caused by ‘crusty’ scars from the surgery.

‘Thank you for being gentle,’ Davina said as her partner brushed out any knots and added that she hadn’t coloured her hair since a few weeks before the operation.

Davina showed off her scars, explaining they were healing well with no infection but there was still a bit of recovery to go.

Her hair had to be shaved in some sections so Michael pointed out there was a ‘lot of baby hairs’ growing near the front of her head.

She added ‘it’s going to be a nightmare in between,’ although it’s nothing compared to the procedure itself.

Davina was taken to ICU as a ‘precaution’ while she recovered from surgery, with Michael sharing updates with fans.

Life seems to be returning to normal but the Masked Singer judge has not confirmed any future TV appearances.

In November, Michael revealed she planned to ‘recuperate’ until mid-January but for the time being her body was ‘forcing her to rest’.

He added: ‘It’s been a very very emotional and quite an incredible experience. We’re definitely out of the woods.’

Last month, Davina reassured fans when she made a surprise little cameo with Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly on Instagram Live after an I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

One Saturday night, Davina joined the ITV hosts after the show, typing in the comments: ‘Hey everyone! Still here’, followed by a laughing face.

‘Davina McCall’s here, everybody!’, Dec declared as he pointed to the screen, causing the studio to erupt into cheers.

Since the surgery, Davina has said her short-term memory isn’t as strong as before but her sense of humour clearly hasn’t faded.

‘People think you’ve got really thick hair but it’s actually quite thin,’ Michael said to which his girlfriend feigned shock and replied ‘What?’.

Davina revealed she ‘used to have lots of hair’ but had lost the thickness after having children, which is a common side-effect of pregnancy.

After the cut, the TV icon thanked her partner for the cut and joked she should ‘have brain surgery more often’.

In a recent update, she said she was feeling ‘a lot more myself’, emphasising how ‘grateful’ she is.

Davina wrote in her Instagram caption: ‘I definitely feel this whole experience is a blessing. The love I feel for life, my family, my partner, nature, sun, rain, wind… everything… it’s overwhelming at times…

‘I totally understand how lucky I was to get this health check … but there were many health checks that I skilfully ignored , when I got letters from @nhsengland offering them…. so what I’m saying is DO THE NHS HEALTH CHECKS … they r free ! BTW x thank you , for all the messages and support … big hugs 🤗.’
