Hollywood star Demi Moore has finally been nominated for an Oscar, just days after winning her first-ever award.
Demi is now 62, and has been acting since she got her first film credit in 1981. Despite being a household name, however, she’s never been in line for the major accolades of the acting world.
The star has now been nominated for an Oscar under the category Best Actress in a Leading Role for her work as Elizabeth Sparkle in the body horror film The Substance, which was released last September. Demi has tough competition in the category, with Karla Sofía Gascon, Cynthia Erivo, Mikey Madison, and Fernanda Torres also nominated.

Mubi)Demi’s exciting news came soon after she won a Golden Globe for Best Actress on January 5. The actress had audience members in tears at her speech, in which she spoke about being put down and told she’d never succeed as a ‘serious’ actress.
"I've been doing this a long time, over 45 years, and this is the first time I've ever won anything as an actor,” she said. "Thirty years ago, I had a producer tell me that I was a popcorn actress and at that time, I made that mean that awards weren't something that I was allowed to have, that I could do movies that were successful, that made a lot of money, but that I couldn't be acknowledged.
"I bought in, and I believed that, and that corroded me over time, to the point where I thought a few years ago that maybe this was it, maybe I was complete. I've done what I was supposed to do. I was at kind of a low point, I had this magical, bold, courageous, out-of-the-box, absolutely bonkers script come across my desk called The Substance, and the universe told me that you're not done."
She concluded the emotional speech: “I’ll just leave you with one thing that I think this movie is imparting In those moments, when we don’t think we’re smart enough, or pretty enough, or skinny enough, or successful enough, or basically just not enough: I had a woman say to me, ‘Just know, you will never be enough, but you can know the value of your worth if you just put down the measuring stick.”
Demi starred in The Substance alongside Margaret Qualley, 30, who played a younger version of Demi, achieved through taking a black market drug. The duo both revealed that they physically suffered due to the intense nature of the gory horror.
Speaking to the Los Angeles Times, Demi shared: “To give you an idea of the intensity, my first week that I actually had off, where it was just Margaret working, I got shingles. And I then lost, like, 20 pounds.”
Margaret revealed that she also saw a physical impact alongside painful cuts and bruises from the monster-like bodysuit she wore in some scenes: “Oh, yeah, I had crazy acne for a full, long-a** time,” she shared.
