Sean “Diddy” Combs hosted many parties over the years. Even before fame, people reportedly clamored to get into the events he hosted. He once said he wouldn’t disclose all of what happened at these events. Still, he kept evidence of the goings-on locked away. Diddy admitted that he filmed all his parties.
Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs said he liked to film his parties
Diddy has long compared himself to Frank Sinatra. He said one of their shared traits was their love of entertaining.
“I love showing people a good time, throwing parties, and seeing people have fun. That’s me,” he told People. “And Frank was the same. He loved entertaining.”
Diddy recalled one of his most recent parties, which lasted for hours. He admitted that some people, including himself, were naked in the pool. When discussing this, Diddy admitted he caught this on tape, as he filmed all his parties.
“Somebody got naked and got into the pool. Actually two people did. And one of them was me,” Diddy said. “We have that footage locked away and in a safe. I always keep cameras rolling. You never know what may happen.”
Some people said they didn’t feel safe at Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ parties
While many people fought hard to score an invite to Diddy’s parties, others felt trepidatious while they were there. Bad Boy publicity director LaJoyce Brookshire said the parties began to feel unsafe after a certain hour.
“I know that there’s no safety after a certain hour when you’ve got drinks flowing, and people behind your back doing drugs in bathrooms, and two or three people walking out of a bathroom together,” she said in the documentary The Downfall of Diddy: The Indictment (via Vulture).
Diddy reportedly even made announcements to make it clear when the parties were about to take a turn. In footage from one party, he told guests with children to leave.
“The kids have an hour left. Get extra comfortable, kids, because after that y’all got to go. It’s a wrap for y’all,” he announced to the party from a balcony. “Because this thing turns into something that when y’all get older, y’all are going to want to come to.”
50 Cent said some celebrities likely feel worried about appearing on the tapes
One celebrity who has long spoken out against Diddy is 50 Cent. He once said he avoided his parties.
“I’ve been very vocal about not going to Puffy parties and doing s*** like that,” he told The Hollywood Reporter. “I’ve been staying out of that s*** for years. It’s just an uncomfortable energy connected to it.”
He believes that the reason many celebrities haven’t spoken out about Diddy is because they’re worried about the party footage.
“Some of them were involved, at the parties and enjoyed themselves, so they don’t know what the f*** is on tape or what’s not on tape, so they’re not going to say anything because they might have had too much fun,” he said. “And then you’ve got other people who look and go, ‘Well, that’s not my business and I don’t want to be in it.’”
