'Tis the season for hot chocolate, rosy cheeks, and heartwarming holiday adverts and now Disney has released its own heartwarming Christmas campaign.
The much-loved American entertainment company has teamed up with award-winning director Taika Waititi to create a magical Disney Holiday Short called The Boy & The Octopus, just in time for the festive season.
Released today, the clip follows a little boy and his curious octopus pal who attaches itself to the boy’s head during a beach vacation, the video tells the adorable story of the unlikely pair becoming best friends as the boy shows the octopus what life is like on land.
From playing with his Jedi lightsaber and Buzz Lightyear action figures in the little boy’s room to checking out Santa’s Christmas Eve route on the map on his wall, the pair have all sorts of fun and even sneak out with the help of a Mickey Mouse beanie.

While watching the movie, the little boy realises his eight-armed friend wants to explore everything the world has to offer, and he’s intent on making it happen. You’ll have to wait until the full clip drops to find out exactly what that entails, though.
In a description shared with The Mirror, the clip is everything you’d expect a Disney production to be, as it explains: “For the boy and the octopus, it is the precious everyday moments of childhood and friendship, as much as the magic of the season, that make their time together so meaningful.”

Disney)And for the Disney fans, you’ll be pleased to know that much like their films, there are some things to look out for in Waititi’s clip: “Disney fans will love finding even more hidden Easter eggs throughout the holiday short including from beloved films like Moana (2016), Lilo and Stitch (2002), and Toy Story (1995), among others.”
But it doesn’t stop there. In addition to being extra cute, Waititi and his team worked with a creative agency, Adam&eveDDB, and a 60-piece orchestra to bring to life the soulful music used in the short.
Sharing their take on the favourite The Little Mermaid song, Part of Your World, the music recorded live at the legendary Abbey Road studio can be heard throughout the short production.
Along with the clip, the entertainment giant has announced they are working with the Make-A-Wish campaign once more to take 50 families from across the UK, Europe, and the Middle East to Disneyland Paris.
