Jeremy Clarkson has revealed doctors warned him there was a chance his heart would stop working before they performed surgery on him.
The 64-year-old TV star stunned fans last week when he announced he had required surgery on his heart after his health deteriorated suddenly after he returned from a holiday in the Indian Ocean. The Clarkson's Farm star was fitted with a stent by doctors who operated on him at John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.
Sharing more details about his ordeal, Jeremy has now revealed that far from being concerned about going under the knife, he was quite calm about the whole process. And even when doctors explained the statistical risks of something going wrong while they operated on him, he still felt calm.
The Amazon Prime reality show star even joked that he simply "nodded off" after having a chat with his surgeons - and compared himself to a car getting an MOT as they worked on his body. But the star has confessed he is now "scared" of the new lifestyle he has been ordered to adapt to.

Instagram)Writing in The Sun, the former Top Gear star explained: "I felt like a car. My fuel lines had become all clogged up and they were mending them. Easy. Sure, they said there was a five per cent chance that my heart would stop but there’s a five per cent chance I’ll be eaten by a lion this afternoon and I’m not worried about that. What is scary though is what came afterwards. The advice on how I must live my life from now on."
Jeremy went on to explain that doctors advised him on the healthy foods he should eat, which included seeds, and they also told him to try to relax more and work less - suggesting he take up golf. The medical advice has not sat well with the star, however. He explained: "The worst problem though is diet. To cut my alarmingly high levels of cholesterol, I need to cut out, completely, everything I like eating. Bacon, sausages, beef, lamb, pork, butter, chips, proper milk, Cadbury’s fruit and nut bars and the interesting bit in an egg. I’ve had a week now to live in the new regime and it’s horrific."
Clarkson's Farm co-star Kaleb Cooper shared an insight into Jeremy's health battle on Thursday. Appearing on ITV's This Morning, he gave a candid update on Jeremy's health as well as discussing their popular TV show. He told hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley: "We were all quite shocked when he came out and talked about the fact that he had to have some heart surgery, because you know he lives his life at a million miles an hour. He's got loads of stuff going on at the farm and stuff... I mean I was there with him when it happened and all I can say is he's definitely a fighter. He's a strong man."
