The OnePlus 13 is on its way to the global market. OnePlus already launched its latest smartphone in China on November 1 and announced its specs, including a beefy 6,000mAh battery and powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. Now, all we have to do is wait until we can confirm whether its ready to impress overseas customers. Of course, one of the most competitive specs is battery life and charging, which can be enough to turn customers away if they fall short of expectations.

The OnePlus 12 lasted well into two days and offered a variety of charging options, but what about its successor? That beefy 6,000mAh battery won’t charge itself. Here’s what you need to know about OnePlus 13 wireless charging and its other charging options.

Does the OnePlus 13 have wireless charging?

Yes, the OnePlus 13 supports wireless charging. I would be a severe oversight for the OnePlus 12 to have it, but not its next-gen sibling. Thankfully, that’s not the reality. The OnePlus 13 features the same 50-watt wireless charging as its predecessor, an impressive achievement for a phone that will probably cost much less than the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra and iPhone 16 Pro Max.

Does the OnePlus 13 have reverse wireless charging?

The OnePlus 13 also supports 10W reverse wireless charging, which means it could serve as a backup battery for other wireless charging-compatible devices in a pinch.

However, reverse wireless charging isn’t as efficient as its wired counterpart. With how much emphasis companies place on fast charging, many devices like phones, tablets, and portable gaming consoles are expected to charge faster and faster. At 10W, the OnePlus 13 can hardly match the wattage of its own wireless charging capabilities. However there are times when you aren’t anywhere near an electrical outlet or an external battery pack. In that case, your OnePlus 13 can be used to charge smaller devices like smartwatches or earbuds that might need a boost.

What are the OnePlus 13’s other charging options?

Wired charging is still a viable method for charging your smartphone in 2024. You don’t need to use wireless charging if you’re more comfortable with a cord. In fact, wired charging is faster most of the time.

The OnePlus 13 supports 100W wired charging via USB-C — twice as much as its 50W wireless charging can manage. While we haven’t had the chance to try it yet, the latest intel from GSMArena suggests that the OnePlus 13 can charge up to 50% battery in a mere 13 minutes and fully charge in about 36 minutes. Wireless, reverse wireless, and reverse wired charging fill it up at a slower rate. The OnePlus 12 also supported 100W charging, but it was limited to 80W in the U.S., and it’s possible its successor will share this limitation. However, that’s still faster than most competitors.

The OnePlus 13 also supports 5W reverse wired charging. Similar to reverse wireless charging, it can charge other USB-C compatible devices with a cord. However, if the chargeable item also supports wireless charging, it’d be best to use that because the 10W reverse wireless charging is a smidge faster than 5W reverse wired option.

OnePlus 13 confirmed to get a mixed bag of camera upgrades

OnePlus has been steadily dropping bits of information as it gears up for the launch of its next flagship phone later this month. The latest tease sheds some light on the OnePlus 13’s camera hardware, which seems like a mix of small upgrades and a minor drop.

The primary camera will adopt Sony’s LYT-808 sensor, which is the same 50MP 1/1.4-inch format kit that we also saw on the OnePlus 12. This time around, OnePlus is extending 4K Dolby Vision capture support across all cameras instead of keeping it limited to the main snapper.

The best folding phones in 2024: the 6 best you can buy

Someone opening the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5.

Folding smartphones are a fairly mature market in 2024. When they first launched, foldables were futuristic and exciting, albeit buggy. With time, they have been refined and improved to cater to everyday use. Their prices are gradually decreasing as the technology advances, but they still remain expensive purchases, making it crucial to make the right buying decision.

Currently, there are two types of folding smartphones available on the market. The first type resembles a regular non-folding phone, but can be unfolded into a larger tablet-like device. The second type is similar to the classic Motorola Razr clamshell phones, where a normal-sized phone can be folded in half to become more compact and pocketable. Although both use the same screen and hinge technology, they cater to different needs.
