Winner

Cooper the dog

This week's Pet of the Week is 2-year-old Cooper, an Aussiedor—Australian shepherd and a Labrador retriever cross—who demands to be a big part of the family.

Like many dogs, Cooper often sits and watches the family during mealtime, hoping for some human food. But recently, his routine has changed.

"He usually sits and stares at us while we eat, waiting to receive human food," owner Paula Isaacson told Newsweek. In a lighthearted attempt to address his begging, Isaacson and her family decided to put Cooper's dog bowl on the table in front of him to see if he would eat his own food instead.

What happened next surprised them all. "He did just that and ate everything in his bowl—no whining," Isaacson said.

It turns out all Cooper wanted was to be included in the family meal. "Well, I guess he's going to be eating at the table with us now," said Isaacson, who shared a hilarious video of Cooper enjoying his meal at the table.

Finalists

Horris the cat

Our first finalist this week is Horris, the beloved pet of Noelle Keegan, described as her "shining light."

Horris has been with her since she was a kitten and remains a comforting part of Keegan's life. "When I'm down, she makes me smile," she told Newsweek.

Her fluffy and cuddly personality provides support and love when her owner needs it most.

Ozzie the cat

Our next finalist this week is Ozzie, a cat who loves to sleep in "ridiculous positions."

Owner Carol Parisien recently walked into her bedroom when she saw her cat curled up on the chair. "I had a 'cat' pic cushion on the chair, and Ozzie was sleeping against it," Parisien told Newsweek.

To her surprise, Ozzie's head was squished against the arm of the chair, perfectly aligning with the image on the cushion, making it look like the cat on the cushion was Ozzie's head. "He's a funny boy," Parisien laughed.

Yogi the dog

Last but not least is 2-year-old Yorkie mix Yogi, who lives with owner Darla Ramsarran.

Yogi has a liver shunt, an abnormal blood vessel that allows blood from the digestive system to bypass the liver, preventing proper detoxification. "We are managing, but it can be very challenging at times," Ramsarran told Newsweek.

Ramsarran said she feels "overwhelmed with love" for her sweet and incredibly smart companion.
