Dog Faces Consequences After He Can't Be Trusted Around Potluck Food

1 month ago 8

An office dog from Nashville was excluded from the company's potluck lunch, and internet users can't stop laughing at the reason why.

In a viral TikTok video shared on Wednesday by one of the office workers, Becky Pugliese, under the username @beckypugl, the pup is locked in another room, staring through the glass door as the humans and another dog enjoy the feast.

"When you can't be trusted around the office potluck lunch … don't worry lots of pets were had instead," reads a caption shared with the post. Newsweek reached out to @beckypugl for comment via TikTok comments. We could not verify the details of the case.

As sad as it may look, keeping dogs away from human foods is always a great idea, especially when you don't know what ingredients were used. That's because lots of foods that we safely consume daily can actually be fatal for our pups.

Foods such as chocolate, caffeine, xylitol, cinnamon, and ice cream are an obvious no-go when it comes to dogs. But the list of human foods they can't eat is actually much longer than that, and includes some fruits and vegetables, too.

Grapes, sultanas and raisins are all toxic to dogs, so are macadamia nuts, avocados, cherries, tomatoes, mushrooms and asparagus, among other foods, according to the American Kennel Club (AKC).

But that doesn't mean you can't share any of your meals with your pup. In fact, there are many human foods they can have with no problems. These include bread, cheese, coconut, corn, ham, honey, and peanut butter, among others.

If you think your dog ate something harmful, including bones, rubber toys, stones, and socks, among other easy-to-ingest items, call your veterinarian immediately, as prompt help could save your pup's life.

Symptoms that your dog ate something toxic include vomiting; diarrhea; twitching; low energy (lethargy); reduced appetite; standing with a hunched back or adopting a "bowing" or "prayer" position due to tummy pain, and constipation.

However, these symptoms may take a couple of days to develop, depending on what your pup ate.

The video quickly went viral on social media and has so far received over 864,000 views and almost 80,000 likes on the platform.

One user, MidEvlDed, commented: "If you look really closely, you can see him mouthing the lyrics to locked up by Akon."

Em Vee said: "He works harder than all of you!! Pass him a plate!"

Lee Lee added: "This made me unreasonably sad. You better have let that pup join in."
