President Donald Trump has attacked MSNBC and Joy Reid amid reports her show has been canceled, describing the host as one of the "least talented people."
Newsweek contacted MSNBC and Reid for comment via email outside regular business hours.
Why It Matters
Trump has frequently attacked news networks for their coverage of him over the years, frequently calling reports "fake news" and describing the media as "the enemy of the people."

What to Know
MSNBC has canceled Reid's show, The ReidOut, as part of an overhaul overseen by the network's new president, Rebecca Kutler, a source familiar with the situation previously told Newsweek.
Reid appeared to confirm the news on social media, writing on Bluesky in the early hours of Monday morning eastern time that she would present her show "one more time."
Reid is to be replaced by a panel show hosted by Democratic strategist Symone Sanders-Townsend, writer and host Alicia Menendez and Michael Steele, the former chairman of the Republican National Committee.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump praised the move to cancel Reid's show, accusing her of being a "mentally obnoxious racist" who should have been "canned" long ago.
Reid has frequently attacked Trump on air and on social media. In July 2024, she posted a video on TikTok urging Democrats to support President Joe Biden's reelection campaign to keep "Hitler out of the White House."
In January 2025, Reid called Trump an "insurrectionist" over his alleged role in the January 6 attack the Capitol in 2021 while describing his return to the White House as an eventual "violent transfer of power."
In his Truth Social post, the president also lashed out at Alex Wagner, who is reportedly not returning to Rachel Maddow's 9 p.m. hosting slot four days a week, and at Al Sharpton, who "has, perhaps, the lowest TV ratings in the history of television."
Maddow had scaled back her hosting duties to Mondays, but she returned to hosting five days a week during the first 100 days of the Trump administration.
What People Are Saying
President Donald Trump, writing on Truth Social: "Lowlife Chairman of 'Concast,' Brian Roberts, the owner of Ratings Challenged NBC and MSDNC, has finally gotten the nerve up to fire one of the least talented people in television, the mentally obnoxious racist, Joy Reid. Based on her ratings, which were virtually non-existent, she should have been 'canned' long ago, along with everyone else who works there. Also thrown out was Alex Wagner, the sub on the seriously failing Rachel Maddow show. Rachel rarely shows up because she knows there's nobody watching, and she also knows that she's got less television persona than virtually anyone on television except, perhaps, Joy Reid.
"Then there's, of course, the LOW IQ Con Man, Al Sharpton, who has, perhaps, the lowest TV ratings in the history of television. What is he doing to Brian Roberts to stay on the air? This whole corrupt operation is nothing more than an illegal arm of the Democrat Party. They should be forced to pay vast sums of money for the damage they've done to our country. Fake News is an UNPARDONABLE SIN!"
Joy Reid, posting on Bluesky: "I just want to say thank you to everyone who has reached out with kindness and encouragement, both personally and in these social media streets. So very proud of The Reidout team, who are truly family, and all of our supporters & friends. See you tomorrow night at 7, one more time."
Charlie Kirk, political commentator and founder of Turning Point USA, posted on X, formerly Twitter: "Joy Reid, aka the race lady at MSNBC, just had her show canceled because it was unwatchable. Good riddance to the most vitriolic, lowbrow, and unhinged race hustler ever allowed on national television."
What Happens Next
The final episode of Reid's show, The ReidOut, is planned for this week, according to The New York Times, with Reid indicating it could be on Monday.
