"I photobombed and I was in an awkward position..."
Due to Diddy and his current allegations, many have accused other celebrities of sexual misconduct or covert homophobic activity because of their association with him. This has led Donnell Rawlings to provide context for a questionable photo that included him, the Bad Boy founder, Russell Simmons, and others.
The 56-year-old comedian appeared on the latest episode of Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast and was asked about the picture which features him sitting in the floor between Puff’s legs while Puff has his arms around Simmons and Dave Chappelle. French Montana and other celebrities were in the photo, as well.
“I ain’t even know he was back there,” Rawlings told Sharpe. “I photobombed and I was in an awkward position. You don’t got to say between the man’s legs. You got the wrong wordplay. I photobombed and was in a situation where people perceived to be very suspect. Or as the kids say, ‘sus’.”
Rawlings wasn’t done making light of the situation, either. “You know how I knew I was f**ked up? Because Diddy looked at me like, ‘Damn, somebody get this ni**a off the boat.” He changed the direction of the conversation by discussing the alleged “Freak Offs,” how people view Hollywood, and how those hot topics impacted the reaction to the photo.
“Everybody knows ‘Freak Offs.’ Everybody know Hollywood is Hollywood. I don’t understand why all these motherf**kers act like, ‘Oh my God, they had a mansion party and they had cocaine and all these orgies drugs and stuff,'” he said. “It’s a photo that’s gone viral that 10 years ago. That would have been a photo that had been iconic and people to wish they was in that picture. It wasn’t until after the ‘Freak Off’ sh*t that now the picture looks suspect. But you look at that picture. Shannon, you see it different for me. What I saw in that picture. First off, I saw eight successful Black men.”
The Washington, D.C. native also described his personal experiences with Diddy, claiming he attended a family-friendly event during the holidays where his son, Dave Chappelle’s kids, and Puff’s late partner Kim Porter were present. “It was just a vibe,” Rawlings said. “We had dinner, we exchanged good energy, and that’s what it was for me. Nothing more, nothing less.”
Donnell Rawlings isn’t the first to recount positive experiences with Diddy, but these don’t necessarily matter in a court of law. The “Last Night” artist is currently behind bars for racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking and will go to trial in the spring.
