Rapper Drake has found himself in a heated exchange with popular streamer Pokimane after she criticized his involvement with the crypto casino Stake.
The controversy, which began during one of Pokimane's recent livestreams, has sparked widespread online debate.
Pokimane calls out Drake over Crypto casino
Pokimane, 28, expressed her disappointment after learning about Drake's long-standing partnership with Stake, saying it tarnished her perception of him despite her admiration for his music.
"When I heard Drake was involved with Stake, my heart broke," she said.
"I've been a little Drake fan girl, you know, the Canadian blood running through my veins. I still love his music, but now I don't love him as much as a person."
Drake, 38, has been associated with Stake since 2022, often promoting the online casino on his social media platforms.
His recent appearance on a livestream hosted by Kick streamer xQc likely reignited criticism of the partnership, as Pokimane has been vocal about her opposition to online gambling in streaming spaces.
The rapper's apparent response came after streamer Los Pollos brought Pokimane's comments to his attention.
In what appeared to be a lighthearted jab, Drake remarked, "I watched the clip, what's she mad about? What is it, the braids??!"
Fans have since speculated that the mention of "braids" could refer to either his hairstyle or Kendrick Lamar's diss track "Euphoria."
This is not the first time Pokimane has called out Drake for his association with Stake.
During a 2022 appearance on The H3 Podcast, she criticized him for promoting crypto gambling, saying, "As a Canadian, we're disowning you. We'll keep the music, though."
Drake's partnership with Stake has remained a point of contention, particularly because of the online casino's connection to gambling-focused content on Kick.
While Stake.com operates outside of U.S. jurisdiction, its presence has drawn scrutiny from critics like Pokimane, who advocate for stricter regulations on gambling-related streaming.
As the debate continues, both Drake and Pokimane remain influential voices in their respective spheres, revealing the complexities of celebrity endorsements in controversial industries.
