A surprising friendship between a duck and a Highland cow has captured hearts across social media.

The charming footage, shared by Bre Boyette (@brehillboyette), shows her Highland cow standing peacefully in a pond, joined by a white duck who seems to have taken a particular interest in the bovine beast. This scene has captivated TikTok, racking up 2.6 million likes and 12.2 million views.

"Dumpy, I think he loves you. I don't know what the head bobbing means, I need to Google it, but I think it means he loves you," Boyette comments as she films the two animals sharing a serene moment together in the water.

"You're his cow. Like, he's claimed you as his best friend for life."

The video reveals the duck bobbing its head up and down—a behavior that is often associated with friendliness or affection in ducks.

According to The Cape Coop, ducks bob their heads as a social signal, and it can indicate they're feeling playful or even displaying affection toward other animals or people. In this case, the duck's behavior appears to show a special bond forming between him and the cow.

The heartwarming interaction continued as the cow slowly wandered out of the pond, with the duck loyally trailing behind. Boyette playfully remarked: "Good talk. Really enjoyed it, guys. I'll see you later. That was so rude," as the animal duo departed together.

Viewers couldn't get enough of the enchanting scene, showering the comments with reactions as if it were lifted from a modern fairy tale.

Google even joined in the fun, adding: "Absolutely thrilled we can help you search 'what does duck head bobbling mean?'" Fans quickly took to their own research: "I just googled... He's flirting," wrote Lisa, while another viewer chimed in: "Omg I googled it! He loves him."

Beyond the adorable bond, viewers were curious about the pond's vibrant blue hue. "HOW is that pond so blue??" wondered Jess. Jaz suggested: "It's dyed to stop harmful algae growth."

Pond dyes are commonly used to block sunlight, which helps prevent the growth of algae that can harm aquatic life.

As explained by Bass Resource, these dyes are safe for animals and keep ponds visually appealing without using harsh chemicals.

Newsweek reached out to Bre Boyette for comment via TikTok. We could not verify the details of the case.
