After nearly 10 years of the Upside Down, we’re set to say our final goodbyes to Eleven and Vecna this year.
However, the Duffer Brothers have said it may not quite be a total farewell as they tease new Stranger Things projects.
Season five of the Netflix series is set to drop (at a still unconfirmed time) in 2025, with the creators calling this final season the ‘biggest and most ambitious yet’. And while it’s been a long wait for fans, it’s sounding like it will be worth it.
"We spent a full year filming this season. By the end, we’d captured over 650 hours of footage," the creators said during the Next on Netflix event last night (29 January).
"It’s like eight blockbuster movies. It’s pretty insane."
It’s fair to say people are pretty gutted about the show coming to an end, including the cast and crew as there was a ‘lot of crying’ on set. But the Duffer Brothers have reassuringly said we’ll be seeing the world of Stranger Things live on - having previously teased a spin-off.
"While this might be the end of the story for Mike, Hopper, Dustin, Lucas, Eleven, and the others, it’s not goodbye for Stranger Things. There are many more stories to tell," Matt said.
Stranger Things: The First Shadow is already running on the West End with the play set to head to Broadway in March. But that’s not all.

"There are more Stranger Things stories to tell and in the works," Matt added, explaining that while it’s too early to talk about them, the brothers are 'deeply involved'.
"It’s very important to us that anything with the Stranger Things name on it is of the highest quality and not repetitive — that it has a reason to exist and always blazes its own path.
"And also, it needs to basically just be... awesome. Or we need to think it’s awesome. And there are a lot of what we think are awesome things in the pipeline."
As well as saying they 'can’t wait' for people to see 'what’s next for Stranger Things' the pair outlined the new shows coming out through their company, Upside Down Pictures.

Set to release in 2026, The Boroughs and Something Very Bad is Going to Happen will both encompass what the Duffers 'feel is at the core of Stranger Things and that is they’re stories about ordinary people who encounter the extraordinary'.
Matt went on to add that The Boroughs ‘probably shares the most DNA with Stranger Things because it’s about a group of misfits who fight an otherworldly evil’.
However, the big difference is that it’s set in a retirement community so 'they ride golf carts, not bikes'.

Well, from the new unrelated series to the other Stranger Things stories ‘in the works’, it seems like fans won’t have a total void when we finally get the last season later this year.
