Elton John, the iconic "Rocket Man" singer, recently shared details about a health scare that has left him partially blind.
Elton John opens up about vision loss
The 77-year-old musician lost vision in his right eye due to a severe infection over the summer, a condition that has significantly impacted his life and work.
"It's been four months now since I haven't been able to see, and my left eye is not the greatest,"John revealed during an interview on Good Morning America.
He explained that the incident occurred in the south of France, leaving him unable to read lyrics or watch television.
"I can't see anything. I can't read anything, I can't watch anything. It kind of floored me."
The infection has also put the future of his musical projects in question.
John was asked about the status of an unfinished album he first mentioned during his 2023 induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
"There's hope and encouragement that it'll be OK, but I'm kind of stuck at the moment because I can do something like this, but going into the studio and recording, I don't know," he admitted.
"I just have to get off my backside."
In September, John first disclosed his health struggle on social media, describing it as a slow healing process.
"Over the summer, I've been dealing with a severe eye infection that has unfortunately left me with only limited vision in one eye," he wrote.
"I am healing, but it will take some time before sight returns to the impacted eye."

Despite this setback, John remains optimistic and focused on other projects.
He has been promoting his upcoming Disney+ documentary, Elton John: Never Too Late, which reflects on his extraordinary career and personal struggles.
Directed by R.J. Cutler and David Furnish, the film includes a new song and chronicles John's journey from adversity to superstardom.
While health challenges have temporarily slowed him down, John expressed gratitude for his life and achievements.
"I'm the luckiest man in the world," he shared, adding that his family, career, and positive outlook continue to sustain him.
