Emmerdale star Natalie J Robb has shared insights into Moira Dingle's challenging journey as she faces surgery after being diagnosed with a brain tumour.

ITV chiefs have revealed that viewers will be treated to a special episode centring on Moira's surgery and the emotional turmoil of her husband Cain Dingle, played by Jeff Hordley.

The unique narrative will see Cain's day unfold in reverse, beginning with his brother Caleb Milligan, portrayed by William Ash, finding him intoxicated and with blood-stained hands.

Overwhelmed by the prospect of losing Moira, Cain is seen battling his demons alone in the garage, unable to come to terms with what the future may hold.

Emmerdale star Natalie J Robb has shared insights into Moira Dingle's challenging journey

Discussing her reaction to the intense plotline, Natalie expressed to the media: "I was really excited. Everyone goes 'Were you worried they are going to kill you off? ' but she [producer] kind of assured me of that straight away. When people decide to do that for you, that's in the lap of the Gods and there's nothing you can do about it."

She continued, highlighting the impact of the storyline: "I was excited because it's been a while I had a story and I have to say the feedback I've had on social media, and the amount of people that are going through this in real life, is extraordinary. I had no idea.", reports Leicestershire Live.

Natalie also touched on the personal connections she's made due to the role: "I've been at award ceremonies and people have come up to me and said 'I've had my tumour removed' and showed me the scars. It was a privilege and honour to get that responsibility."

"The one thing I did want to make sure was the research and speaking to a neurologist so we got everything right because people do go through it."

Natalie has played Moira for 15 years

Natalie, who first appeared as Moira in 2009, hinted at future developments, saying: "There's still some things to go come and Moira still has to go through some treatment afterwards as well so we don't know if everything is going to be hunky dory but there could be some slight personality change."
