Alan Plummer's tragic cause of death has been revealed after a report claimed he died in a "suspected self-harm incident."

The husband of late TV host Erin Plummer has sadly passed away just two years after his wife died by suicide. Erin was best known for hosting Australian talk show Studio 10. Her death stunned fans of the show in 2022.

Alan, 49, was found dead in Freshwater on Sydney's northern beaches leaving the couple's three daughters orphaned. The news comes after Erin's devastated colleagues broke the tragic news of her death on social media at the time, describing the late TV star as " gorgeous human inside and out." In a heartbreaking post at the time, Erin's grieving friend and colleague, Sarah Harris, described her as a "gold medal mum."

The Daily Mail reported that a NSW Police Force spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia of Alan's untimely death: "Officers from Northern Beaches Police Area Command will prepare a report for the information of the Coroner regarding the death of a 49-year-old man at Freshwater on Sunday."

No further details were available. Alan was the former director of Shine VIP Tours Australia PTY LTD. The news was described as "tragic" by a source familiar with the situation, according to the outlet. He had recently sold the family's four-bedroom home in Freshwater, Sydney - a property the family had owned for more than two decades. They initially bought the property for $675,000 in 2002, before it was listed for sale in March this year.

Speaking of Erin's passing, friend Sarah added at the time: "Over the weekend, Studio 10 lost a little bit of sparkle with our friend and advertorial host Erin Jayne passing away suddenly.

“For two decades, Erin Jayne has been a friendly and familiar face on Australian television, for a lot of that she’s been brightening up our mornings with her bubbly personality and megawatt smile. Erin was just a gorgeous human inside and out and if it wasn’t for TV, Erin Jayne perhaps might have had a sporting career.

“She represented Australia in synchronised swimming and even surf life-saving. There is no question Erin Jayne was a high achiever and certainly a gold medal mum to her three young girls. We’ll miss your sunshine around the studio Erin Jayne, and all of us here are sending lots of love and strength to her family."

As well as working for Studio 10, Erin had appeared on other shows in Australia for more than two decades, including working at MTV, The Morning Show and Totally Active TV. She presented on Aerobics Oz Style for six years. The instructional aerobics TV series, which aired from 1982 to 2005, was broadcast in over 80 countries. On screen, she earned the nickname "the Danoz Girl".

Former Studio 10 executive producer Rob McKnight told Daily Mail Australia at the time he was "shocked" to hear of her death. He described her as being "always professional and a pleasure to deal with" before labelling her "versatile and always invested in what she was selling".

Away from the camera, Erin also did a number of voiceovers for television. She won a total of 11 national titles and represented Australia in three world championships thanks to her impressive swimming ability.
