Ethan Slater's ex-wife has broken her silence on his relationship with Ariana Grande, sharing a heartbreaking confession about their new movie Wicked.
The actor met Ariana on the set of the film adaptation of Wicked, back in 2022. Their relationship sparked controversy as both Ethan and Ariana were married at the time. At the time their relationship was made public Ethan was still married to Lilly Jay with whom he shares a child.
It has been claimed that Ethan and Ariana began their alleged affair while filming the two-part Wicked movie, reports the Mirror.
Lilly has confessed that the release of the Hollywood blockbuster has brought up more emotions for her. She heartbrokenly said: "Days when I can’t escape the promotion of a movie associated with the saddest days of my life are darker."
In an honest essay, Lilly reflected on the breakdown of her marriage.
She wrote in The Cut: "In the countless hours I spend rocking my son to sleep, pushing his stroller, marveling at his sweaty little hands grasping a crayon, I work diligently on my private project of accepting the sudden public downfall of my marriage,
"This, I tell myself, is nothing to be ashamed of and nothing to hide. Slowly but surely, I have come to believe that in the absence of the life I planned with my high-school sweetheart, a lifetime of sweetness is waiting for me and my child."
Additionally, Lilly shared that while her relationship with Ethan has changed, their approach to parenting remains the same. She said they both "fiercely love" their son "100 percent of the time".
The mum-of-one reflected that she never imagined her marriage would end in divorce, "especially not just after giving birth to my first child." She admitted that the past year, since their split became public, has been a period of "shock and mourning."
Lilly heartbreakingly shared how she really misses the "life of invisibility" she had built for herself as a psychologist.
Ethan recently admitted that his relationship with Ariana and the public attention it has received has been challenging. The actor has been seen posing on his own while on the green carpet for Wicked, whilst his partner is pictured with co-star Cynthia Erivo.
In an interview with GQ magazine, the film star discussed the challenges of his relationship with Ariana under the public spotlight. He said: "I think there was something that was really difficult about things in your private life being commented on and looked at by the public." Ethan added: "It’s really hard to see people who don’t know anything about what’s happening commenting on it and speculating, and then getting things wrong about the people you love."
A year later, the pair appear to be growing stronger, despite the scandal surrounding their on-set romance.

Ethan filed for divorce from Lilly last year, and Ariana also began divorce proceedings in September of that year from Dalton Gomez.
Although, she stated that she had separated from her estranged husband in February of that year. Discussing her frustration with the alleged overlap of her new relationship, she told The Zach Sang Show: "I feel like we don't need to go into any specifics. But of course, there's an insatiable frustration, inexplicable, hellish feeling with watching people misunderstand the people you love, and you and anything."
