Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo have been slaying the Wicked press tour with outfits that look straight out of Oz! Rocking shades of pink and green, these two are serving serious Wicked vibes and unlocking a whole new level of character-inspired dressing.
ICYMI, the first Wicked movie hits theaters on November 27, with the second part set to premiere on November 21, 2025. It’s based on the Tony-winning Broadway show of the same name, which itself draws from the novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Gregory Maguire. It tells the incredible story of Elphaba (aka the Wicked Witch of the West) and Glinda the Good Witch—long before Dorothy drops in.
Ariana’s casting as Glinda in November 2021 was a literal dream come true. She tweeted back in 2011: “Loved seeing *Wicked* again… amazing production! Made me realize again how badly I want 2 play Glinda at some point in my life! #DreamRole.” Manifesting goals, right?
Ariana, who’s no stranger to Broadway, shared a sweet memory from when she was just 10. After seeing Wicked on Broadway with the original cast, she got to visit Kristin Chenoweth’s dressing room!
“We got to Kristin’s dressing room, which was at the very end of the hall, and she invited me in and let me overstay my welcome,” she said during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “Her dog peed on the couch. We cleaned it up together.”
Kristin even gifted young Ariana a witch’s wand and “magical shower gel,” which Ariana used “every single day, dipping a tiny little pinky in.” She now says: “I really think it was magical now.”
In a recent Vanity Fair interview, Ariana gushed about her “dream role,” saying, “This is something that Cynthia and I lived every single day. It was ours for so long. It was just every single day for such a long time… And to share it with people, and to feel the love that we’ve received in response has been really overwhelming.”
