K-pop’s biggest night is almost here.

The 2024 MAMA Awards are coming up — and for the first time ever, they’ll be taking place in the United States! That’s right, your fav K-pop idols will be hitting up Los Angeles for the big night. So, how can you watch the show, and when the heck is it?

What Are the MAMA Awards?

The MAMA Awards, which stand for Mnet Asian Music Awards is one of the major South Korean music award shows, and is presented annually by entertainment company CJ ENM. First held in South Korea in 1999, the majority of prizes has been won by K-pop artists — however, there are other Asian artists who have won in various award categories, such as for Best Asian Artist and other professional-related awards.

The winners of most categories are decided through a combination of judge panel evaluations, streams and physical album sales — as well. Although fans are able to cast their vote in the Worldwide Fans’ Choice category.

When Are the 2024 MAMA Awards?

The 2024 MAMA Awards will be held on November 21, 2024, at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California. There will be two other ceremonies on November 22 and 23 at the Kyocera Dome, Osaka, Japan.

This year’s theme is “Big Blur: What is Real?,” reflecting the blurred lines between music, culture, and individual preferences.

How Can I Watch the 2024 MAMA Awards?

The ceremony broadcasts live worldwide via Mnet, TVING, tvN Asia, Mnet Japan, Mnet Smart+, other CJ ENM channels and YouTube through Mnet K-POP, Mnet TV, M2, and KCON channels.

Who’s Hosting?

Popular K-drama actor Park Bo-gum will be hosting the LA award show on November 21, with Kim Tae-ri taking on the Japan shows.
