Christmas will be here before we know it, and the start of December is just around the corner - meaning it's almost time to start counting down the days of advent.

And while you might still think it's too early, it'll soon be time to get the Christmas decorations out, including that all-important tree.

Whether you opt for an artificial variety or love getting a real tree each year, they're the pinnacle of Christmas decorating, often serving as the focal point for your living room during the festive season.

The lights create a warm and inviting glow that's enough to get anybody excited about the festivities, and putting all of the baubles and tinsel on the tree with your loved ones is the best way to kick start the countdown.

But what's the best day to get your tree up in 2024?

The experts at Christmas Tree World have shared their recommended date for when you should deck the halls this year.

Advent typically starts four Sundays before Christmas; and this year, the first Sunday of Advent is December 1, 2024, making it the ideal time to decorate your home.

Many households like to set up their tree and other festive decorations on the first day of the month to mark the start of the official countdown to the big day.

But putting the tree up early doesn't just kick start the celebrations - it also has other important benefits that you may not have considered.

It can also make a significant difference when it comes to avoiding the rush of last-minute shopping for gifts, dealing with unexpected visits from loved ones and avoiding the dreaded scramble for holiday food supplies before the shops close for the holidays.

In recent years, it has not been uncommon for families to get ahead and welcome the festive season early, with some setting up their trees as soon as Halloween is over.

David Sumner, Sales Manager at Christmas Tree World, said: "As we inch closer to December, the question of when to put up the Christmas tree is one that seems to spark a bit more excitement every year. Marking the start of Advent on December 1 has become a cherished tradition for many households, signalling the official start of the festive season.

"But in recent years, we’ve seen a shift where more and more families in the UK are embracing the holiday spirit right after Halloween, using November to create cosy, festive spaces to enjoy for a longer period."
