However, Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson provides advice on how to get the team over this hump, including providing some safety tips for frying turkeys this holiday season. Ferguson sat down with Newsweek Sports to discuss what the team needs to do to turn things around.

Ferguson joined USAA and the Arlington Fire Department to discuss fire safety. Every year, thousands of people attempt to deep fry turkeys, only to set their house ablaze. Ferguson joined firefighters in a demonstration on how to properly fry a turkey.

When asked about the event, Ferguson stated, "I partnered with USAA as well as the city of Arlington and the Arlington Fire Department to raise awareness and educate the community on being safe this Thanksgiving with cooking, especially with the big turkeys in oil. Data has shown there is a significant increase in homeowners insurance claims due to fires started by cooking activities, especially during Thanksgiving... we demonstrated a safe way and unsafe way to cook a turkey."

Following the event explanation, Ferguson got right into the struggles the Cowboys have been facing, including losing Dak Prescott for the rest of 2024.

"It's tough. It's tough losing your leader, especially in the middle of the season. At the same time, you think about him, who he is as a guy, his mental, how he's doing. At the end of the day, he's still human. You want to see how he is doing. On the flip side of things, being there to support Trey, being there to support Coop. Whatever they may need."

Naturally, Ferguson points to the heartbreak and mental state that Prescott could be feeling due to suffering another season-ending injury. However, the team needs to step up and support Trey Lance or Cooper Rush in getting some wins.

Mike McCarthy stated that Rush would be the starter, and Ferguson opened up about the rapport he has built with Rush throughout this season and if that rapport is far off from what he built with Prescott.

"I wouldn't say it's far. I'd say it's close. Every single day I get reps with Dak, but fewer with Coop. However, they are still our reps. I said this to him the other day. 'Coop, you threw me my first NFL touchdown.' There is still some fire there. I believe in the guy. I love him. Love the way he approaches the game. Love the way he prepares."

Ferguson is looking to support Rush during his time starting. Communication is a big factor between any quarterback and pass catchers, and Ferguson detailed what occurred during a would-be touchdown on Sunday that he should have caught.

CeeDee Lamb was seemingly thrown the ball, and couldn't catch it due to sunlight in his eyes. However, it appeared that Ferguson could have caught the pass.

"That play, I shouldn't have been coming back to the ball. That's my fault, in a sense. It is my fault. I should have been stretching it to the front pylon, pulling those two defenders. That's why it opened for CeeDee. On the flip side, the second thing, I should have just caught the ball ... in my eyes, I should have caught it."

Ferguson will have more chances to catch touchdown passes from Rush, as the Cowboys will face the Houston Texans next.

The Cowboys are struggling, but they have a chance to turn things around. Ferguson shared his message to the locker room about what the team needs to do to get some much-needed wins.

"We talk about trusting the process. Trust it. Success is built off a bunch of little successes. When you really put your head down and you keep working, you keep trusting your process, eventually, it's going to come your way."
