Homes Under the Hammer: Martin Roberts spots crack at property

Homes Under the Hammer icon Martin Roberts was told he looked “exhausted” after making a social media plea.

The renovation expert slept out on the streets and filmed a video from his car the following morning, with his hair sticking up and looking groggy. In the short clip, posted to X, Martin thanked fans for their support but admitted sleeping rough “really isn’t nice”.

He said: “Morning. Well, I survived. Just to say thank you for your support and your donations. It means a lot to me and obviously to the people I’m raising money for. So thank you.

“And if you see a homeless person today, or at any point, say hello. It really isn’t nice. Have a good day.”

Martin was participating in the CEO Sleepout in Bristol, which encourages people to sleep on the streets to experience what it’s like to be homeless.

On the official website, he explained: “I'm trying to raise awareness and funds for people facing adverse poverty and homelessness in the Bristol area. Last time I did this I caught pneumonia, but it's such an important cause I'm doing it again. And I have the choice to stay for just one night. Others aren't so fortunate.”

So far Martin has raised 60% of his funding goal – £597 out of £1,000 total.

Fans flocked to offer their support for the celeb, with one writing: “Thinking of you Martin and what a great worthy cause you are doing this for.” Someone else agreed: “Hope you were safe and got through okay. Amazing way of raising awareness – a bit scary though!”

Another posted: “Good luck Martin. Hope all goes well without any drama.” And after his update, one X user said: “Mate you look exhausted. Well done for sticking it out and raising money.”

Martin could well be risking his life by taking part, after heart trouble almost killed the star back in 2022. He had to undergo a life-saving surgery after suffering from pericardia effusion – a build-up of fluid around his heart.

He originally thought his symptoms were due to long Covid, but realised that his organs had started to shut down due to his heart condition. Thankfully now he’s living life to the fullest – but refuses to “understate the mental affect-effects of what happened.”
