Fearne Cotton speaks about life after Jesse Wood for first time and says she's 'having fun'

Fearne Cotton is navigating her new life after announcing that she and husband, Jesse Wood, were heading for divorce after 10 years

Fearne Cotton has admitted to having a "weird burst of fun" after her shock split with Jesse Wood.

The mum-of-two, 43, stunned fans when she announced that she and the son of Rolling Stones star, Ronnie Wood, 48, had called it quits after 10 years of marriage.

Fearne has been going through a tough time, after also revealing she was undergoing surgery after discovering two tumours on her jawline. However, now, she says she's beginning to enjoy life, a little bit, in a candid admission on her podcast.

Speaking to comedian Joanne McNally on Happy Palace, she said: "I'm having a little weird um burst of fun. I don't know why, it's come out of nowhere. It's like, oh I just want to go and get a bit p***ed and have some fun. I'm coming out of it a bit, I think it's all phases, but I I totally understand that sort of hyper independence. I think I've had that for so long maybe because I started work young."

Despite her recent "burst of fun", Fearne admitted she'd been using 'unhealthy' coping mechanisms because she 'doesn't trust' people, continuing: "Sometimes I don't trust that people are going to do what I need or support me in the right way. So I'm like 'no I'm doing everything on my own,' which is not great, but I but I know I can rely on myself. So I sort of stick to that and I know that that's not great, but it's just a coping mechanism I guess."

Jesse is yet to speak out on his split with Fearne, but the former kids TV star announced their breakup on Instagram, posting: "It is with a heavy heart that | let you all know that Jesse and I are ending our marriage. Our priority has been, and will always be, our children. We please ask that you respect the privacy of our family at this time."

Fearne and Jesse tied the knot in an intimate ceremony surrounded by their family and friends in 2014. The star recently revealed that tensions were high during the lockdown. The pair welcomed two children together, Rex and Honey. Jesse also has two older children, Arthur and Lola, from a previous relationship.

Shortly before lockdown, Fearne admitted her relationship was under pressure. Penning a column for Red Magazine, she said: 'Love takes hard work - and no one wants to hear that.'

She continued: "This year, Jesse and I hit a rough patch - he was away, touring relentlessly, [with his band, Reef]. I was trying to keep my own career going while looking after our kids and we were both desperately clinging on to our marriage."
