Ford fans rejoice: it’s our turn to add widgets for our cars to Control Center. Ford is rolling out a new version of the FordPass app with Control Center toggles as well as a new Home Screen widget.
The FordPass app was used by Apple as a demo when iOS 18 was announced at WWDC in June and again at the iPhone 16 event in September.
Unfortunately, the “Climate” widget for Control Center that was shown at WWDC is not included in today’s update. Instead, the FordPass app has add two Control Center widgets for “Lock” and “Unlock.”
The new Home Screen widget shows your current range estimate and charging percentage. It even changes to a green background when your car is charging.
I’d really like to see Ford expand on those options with Control Center widgets for things like climate, frunk, and trunk access. Hopefully those are coming in a future update. After WWDC in June, Ford CEO Jim Farley also mentioned that climate settings would among the widgets coming to Control Center.
Automakers including Rivian and Tesla have also rolled out support for iOS 18 Control Center toggles, including options for climate, windows, hood and frunk controls, and more.
The latest version of the FordPass app is available on the App Store.
Shoutout to my friend Jace for spotting the update!
