The Tampa Bay Rays made a low-risk, high-reward investment Monday in a former Silver Slugger Award-winning outfielder.
Eloy Jimenez, who finished last season with the Baltimore Orioles following a midseason trade with the Chicago White Sox, will sign a minor-league contract with the Rays according to multiple reports Monday.
Jesse Rogers of ESPN was first to report the news on Twitter/X.
Jimenez, 28, hit 18 home runs in 2023 but only hit five in 65 games for the White Sox before he was traded to Baltimore ahead of the 2024 trade deadline.
