Fox Entertainment and Hulu are keeping their mutually beneficial streaming arrangement in place.
The network and the Disney-owned streaming service have signed a new, multi-year content partnership deal. Under the agreement, Fox’s primetime entertainment shows — ranging from The Simpsons and Bob’s Burgers to the Gordon Ramsay culinary universe — will continue to stream on Hulu the day after their on-air premieres. The deal also includes an extension of a marketing alliance tho two outlets forged last year, with Fox and Hulu branding jointly appearing on promotional materials.
“Our friends at Hulu and Disney Entertainment are exceptional partners, together driving ongoing mutual growth and strong results,” Fox Entertainment CEO Rob Wade said in a statement. “Through our new agreement, we look forward to expanding on this impressive track record and collaboratively shaping the future of television in today’s shifting media landscape.”
Fox doesn’t have a large-scale SVOD platform of its own, and its FAST service, Tubi, doesn’t carry all of the network’s programming (nor does it have next-day streaming for those shows it does carry). Fox was a partner in Hulu in the streamer’s early years before Disney acquired Fox’s stake in the 2019 acquisition of 21st Century Fox. The libraries of Fox’s animated shows Bob’s Burgers and Family Guy (which, post-merger, are owned by Disney) are regularly among the most-watched streaming shows in the United States, according to Nielsen figures.
“The long-standing, valued partnership we have with Fox has cemented Hulu as the next-day streaming home for current Fox hits and out of season episodes of key Fox titles, and we’re excited to continue offering these scripted, unscripted and animated series to our subscribers,” said Hulu general manager Lauren Tempest. “Our collective marketing efforts, which will continue with this new deal, have generated impressive results and helped viewers successfully find the shows they want to watch, when they want to watch them.”
