The Los Angeles Angels and free agent shortstop Tim Anderson are facing a similar juncture. The Angels are looking to rebound from their 99-loss 2024 season, the worst in franchise history. Anderson is looking to rebound from the worst season of his professional career.
To recap: Anderson, a two-time All-Star, signed with the Miami Marlins in Feb. 2024 and was released from his contract in July. In 65 games, the former American League batting champion hit .214 with only three extra-base hits, seven walks, and 68 strikeouts in 241 plate appearances.

Wednesday, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reported Anderson will get another chance — this time on a minor league contract with the Angels.
Anderson is only three years removed from the last of his two All-Star seasons with the Chicago White Sox, and a possible infield depth piece for a team that could turn both its middle-infield positions over to youngsters in 2025.
