Gisele Bundchen and the real reason she wasn't at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show comeback

The highly anticipated return of the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show took place in New York City, marking its first show since 2018, after a break due to declining ratings.

Fans were excited to see some of the most iconic models, including former Victoria's Secret Angels like Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, and Tyra Banks, who closed the event.

However, one notable absence caught the attention of many viewers-Gisele Bundchen, one of the most recognizable faces from the brand's prime years in the 2000s.

Gisele's continued career beyond the runway

Although Gisele was one of Victoria's Secret's top spokesmodels from 1999 to 2006, she did not participate in the comeback show. This wasn't a surprise for those familiar with her current stance on runway modeling.

In an interview with O Globo, Gisele clarified, "I never said I would retire, just that I would no longer do runways."

She further explained her love for creativity and her desire to continue working, saying, "I will never stop working. My desire is to continue creating until the day I die."

In recent years, Gisele has shifted her focus to other aspects of her career. She recently collaborated with Stefano Pilati and was photographed by Steven Meisel, showcasing her continued presence in the fashion world without returning to the catwalk.

Gisele reflects on Victoria's Secret journey

Looking back on her time with Victoria's Secret, Gisele shared that her decision to move on wasn't easy but necessary.

"When I started, I was 19. When I got to 27, I kind of felt like there were other things I wanted to do," she told Refinery29.

She also mentioned that the brand was always respectful of her preferences, allowing her to wear capes rather than G-strings, which she wasn't comfortable with.

Despite her strong connection to the brand, Gisele felt it was time to turn the page.

"I could have continued maybe three or five more years there, but I felt like I had done that chapter. When you say no to something, you say yes to something else," she concluded.

Her absence from the Victoria's Secret runway doesn't signify an end to her illustrious career, but rather a shift toward new and fulfilling opportunities.
