GMB viewers demand Ed Miliband 'resign' after 'car crash' interview amid furious backlash

Ed Miliband has come under fire following his contentious interview on Good Morning Britain.

Grilled by Richard Madeley on the ITV programme, Miliband was questioned about the serious implications of the President-Elect's views on climate change.

During the segment, Madeley challenged: "The President-Elect has vowed to walk away from a global agreement about cutting carbon emissions for a second time. He has repeatedly called climate change a hoax."

He continued to probe, stating: "We're joined by Ed Miliband now, half of the world leaders are there, and if America doesn't get on board-because we all know that Donald Trump gets what Donald Trump wants-you're in real difficulties with this."

Miliband defended the summit's commitment to progress regardless of US participation, saying: "Well, look, we want to say that people haven't noticed the US election, but the thing I find here at this summit is a real determination to get on with the job, and the reason I am here, and the Prime Minister is here, is in our national self-interest."

The conversation sparked an immediate reaction from viewers, with many expressing their discontent on social media platforms.

A tweet from one user summed up the sentiment: "@Ed_Miliband watching GMB.....absolute car crash interview. We don't believe nor trust you.....resign! " Another added fuel to the fire, commenting: "@Ed_Miliband Why are you on GMB claiming the U.K. is responsible for 1 percent of the world's emissions? absolute rubbish."

A social media user expressed their frustration at the conversation between @richardm56 and Ed Miliband on @gmb, commenting: "Richard @richardm56 @gmb why do you say 'YOU'RE' in difficulty because of Trump to @Ed_Miliband? The fact is WE are all in difficulty. It's the whole world and our children who will suffer. As for the cost of net zero."

During his TV appearance, Susanna Reid put Ed Miliband on the spot as he defended the government's energy plans, reports the Express.

Ed Miliband asserted confidently, stating, "We set that out by 2030, we said that bills could go down by £300. And the reports I referred to last week from the Energy System Operator not only is our target achievable but it will lead to lower cost of electricity."

Reid continued her pointed questioning, querying, "So in six years our bills will go down by £300, how much are they going to have gone up by that point?" Miliband stood firm, emphasising that the hike in bills wasn't due to governmental policies, assuring, "What we're doing is transitioning to cheap, clean power we control."

Meanwhile, online pundits called out what they perceived as a disconnect with reality. A disgruntled commenter posted: "He's so far out of touch of reality it's scary. To think that he's in charge of our energy security is not a comforting thought. Wind and solar energy is not going to make us self sufficient. It's for the birds. The sales pitch that it's clean is fraud. He thinks we are stupid."

Another critic contributed to the growing apprehension, stating, "Due to our lovely weather, last week green energy provided just 10 percent of our energy. The future looks dark and cold with Ed in the driving seat."

Another user remarked: "When £300 is worth nothing because of Rachel Reeves inflation case by employer taxes."
