Goo Goo Dolls to headline Aussie festival in 2025

Iconic 90s band the Goo Goo Dolls are coming back Down Under.

In good news for fans, the American rock band is headlining the Yours and Owls Festival 2025 in Wollongong alongside the likes of The Kooks and Fontaines D.C.

The festival runs from March 1-2 and also features the likes of The Veronicas, and Denzel Curry.

"We're coming back to Australia in 2025 for @yoursandowls !! Sign up for the presale now," the band wrote in an announcement on their official Instagram page on Wednesday.

One fan commented underneath: "So exciting! It was a dream come true having you guys play in Melbourne last year, hope you will be able to sneak in some more Australian shows this time too 🤞🏻🙌🏻."

Guitarist and frontman John Rzeznik, 58, appeared on Today Extra on Wednesday sharing the news, saying he thinks there's no fans like Aussie music fans.

"We were just down there early this year opening for Matchbox [Twenty] and it was awesome, everybody there is so cool," he said.

"The country seems like spring break, everybody is so chill about everything and such huge music fans.

"There's such a love for music there, it's amazing to me and we were very well received and then we got the offer to do this festival."

He said he penned the band's hit song Iris when he was going through a divorce.

He also spoke about the band's iconic name and admitted he's not a fan of it, but it's too late to change it.

"I think its a silly name," he said with a laugh.

"If I had five more minutes, I would have come up with a different name, it just sounds ridiculous to me. There's no way we can ever get rid of it," he added.
