Mauricio Umansky addressed the recent rumors regarding Kyle Richards‘ communication with Paul “PK” Kemsley and his potential romance with Dorit Kemsley on Bravo’s podcast this week.
While also revealing how he’s attempted to mend the fractured relationship between Kyle, 55, and Dorit, 48, sharing his thoughts on being single, and looking ahead to his daughter Alexia Umansky‘s upcoming wedding, the 54-year-old Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast member dished on his friendship with PK, 57, reacted to fake news stories, and explained how the show helped him build The Agency.
“Who gives a sh*t? You guys are friends,” Mauricio told PK of his and Kyle’s DMs during their joint interview on the December 24 episode of Bravo’s Hot Mic podcast. “[And] the whole thing with me and Dorit having a thing, that’s so f*cking stupid.”
As he and PK navigate their separations from Kyle and Dorit, respectively, Mauricio admits to meddling in the ladies’ relationship to spark a reunion.
“I think we separate ourselves from the emotional aspect of it and don’t get too into it but I can tell you from my perspective, I have definitely tried to rekindle the friendship and kind of work behind the scenes, whether it’s with PK, having him say certain things to Dorit, or whether I say certain things to Kyle. Because at the end of the day, they’re both great girls, and there’s no reason for them not to be able to rekindle their friendship,” he reasoned.
According to Mauricio, he believes Kyle and Dorit could come out of their current feud with an even more close-knit friendship than they had before.
“One of the things that this show has done to the women that I have witnessed, in some occasions, is they get into each other so intensely, they fight, generally speaking, when you get into that kind of fight, you just tell somebody to f*ck off. You’re gone and you’re never seeing them again. In this particular case, they’re back together again and when you go through those ups and downs, you can actually end up creating a way stronger friendship with somebody that understands in the long run,” he explained.
On the heels of newly surfaced photos of him and model Klaudia K, 33, kissing in Aspen, Mauricio admitted to liking his freedom.
“Right now, in terms of my life, I’m enjoying being alone, just seeing what that brings me,” he revealed.
He’s also staying focused on his kids, including Alexia, 28, Sophia Umansky, 24, and Portia Umansky, 16, and said he’s excited to begin planning Alexia’s wedding to Jake Zingerman.
“Kyle and I are going to be throwing a wedding, and that’s gonna be something that’s going to be constantly bringing us together,” he shared.
While Mauricio and Kyle’s future is up in the air, he has remained close to PK, with whom he established a friendship early on in their time together on RHOBH.
“One of the things that the show has done great is create friendships, particularly for us in terms of the husbands. We’re kind of on the outside of the drama … but we watch it … we support our wives,” he explained. “I think that’s one of the things I told [PK] early on is I said, ‘Just always support Dorit. She’s always right on camera. You can say she’s wrong somewhere else but on camera, she’s always right.’ But it does build a friendship because you go through something no one else can understand.”
“When you have that thing in common, there’s a lot of things that, as a friend, you can talk about, you can share, that others wouldn’t understand … and that creates a much tighter friendship,” he added.
Among the circumstances Mauricio and PK have faced together are fake news stories.
“Unfortunately, there’s more inaccuracies than there are accuracies when people talk about us, but there’s nothing we can do about them,” Mauricio stated.
Then, looking back on his decision to join the RHOBH cast in 2010, Mauricio said it was something he and Kyle talked over.
“What I didn’t want to happen is for her to have resentment for me ever holding her back. That’s so important for me so I’m like, ‘Let’s go. Let’s do this. Why not?’” he recalled.
At the time he and Kyle began filming, he was launching his real estate firm, The Agency, which has seen massive success in recent years.
“I’ve always been a marketing person. So while we’re on the show … I had The Agency on the hat, I had the agency on the shirts, I had the merchandise, the product placement, etc., etc., and the show helped us tremendously with the business,” he shared. “It helped a lot. It’s not the reason The Agency became the Agency. It’s not the reason I became successful … But it was helpful to all of those things.”
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills season 14 airs Tuesdays at 8/7c on Bravo.
