Pixel Camera 9.6 started rolling out in mid-October with a handful of additions introduced with that month’s Feature Drop. This version should now be more widely available via the Google Play Store.
While most people received version 9.6 of Pixel Camera in mid-October, some remained on either 9.4 (Pixel 6-Pixel 8a) or 9.5 (Pixel 9 series).
Last week, Google started rolling out 9.6.080.695519101.19 (from 9.6.080.684217224.16) as a patch that those on version 9.4 and 9.5 are now seeing.
With Pixel Camera 9.6, Pixel 6-8a owners get a 5-second timer that joins the existing 3 and 10-second options. It’s also easier to enter Astrophotography mode from the Night Sight tab by tapping the bottom-right corner and sliding to Astro.
Pixel 9 series owners get the new “Underwater photography and video” in Settings > Advanced. This works with any waterproof case and helps restore “true colors.” Pixel Camera will note when “Underwater” capture is enabled at the top of the viewfinder. This is not available on the Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
Finally, the redesigned Panorama mode now lets you capture while your device is in vertical orientation. It was previously limited to horizontal capture.
