Google Drive media player gets a revamp; Here’s all you need to know

Google is giving an overhaul to Google Drive with a new video player. The new look of the Google Drive comes from the Material Design 3 system fo Google. As for the player, it has dedicated buttons to rewind or fast-forward the media and the playback speed of the video can also be adjusted. Google unveiled the new media player through an official blog post. The video player will have a new layout coupled with a modern look. Users will be able to fast forward or rewind the videos by 15-second intervals with dedicated buttons for the same and a play/pause option as well. Furthermore, the playback speed and the captions of the video can also be altered without going into the Settings every time for the same.

As claimed by Google, the feature has been released to offer an experience closer to what the users will see in Google Vids. For those who are unaware, Google Vids is the upcoming editor that will benefit from the Gemini large language model (LLMO) for video creation.

In addition, the latest video player in Google Drive is being rolled out for all devices as of now. However, if you have not got the same until now then there is no need to worry. The update could take up to 15 days to reach everyone on a global level for the Rapid Release domains.

Apart from that, the scheduled release domain accounts will get the same starting from November 18, 2024, until the next three days. The feature will be live for all the Google Workspace customers, personal Google accounts, and Workspace Individual Subscribers.
