Gossip Girl's Chanel Maya Banks shared cryptic post just before she vanished off face of the earth

Missing Gossip Girl star Chanel Maya Banks' family are desperately trying to find her after being out of contact for two weeks. Her cousin claims the actress' husband isn't cooperating in the search

Missing actress Chanel Maya Banks shared a cryptic post weeks before disappearing.

The Gossip Girl star, 36, hasn't been heard from in two weeks, leaving family members frantically searching for her. A cousin has claimed the actress' husband is being far from helpful with the search and claimed he had been ripping down missing persons leaflets from the neighbourhood.

Weeks before going missing, Chanel, who is said to have taken a step back from her acting aspirations to focus on her writing, posted a lengthy and cryptic message on her TikTok account. Sharing a solitary picture of herself with the backing tune Pretty by MEYY, she wrote: "Tres sage, tres soucieux," which translates to: "Very wise, very concerned."

She went on: "Is it now gauche to post just one photo? Have I missed another trend? That's the thing about trends: they are at once the most fickle and troublesome of waves, a torrential fury consuming the precious attention of all in its path. An insidious thing, the trend captures by captivating its victims robbing them of the most precious gift: authenticity."

She continued: "As Rosh Hashanah approaches, I've been pondering the significance of unadulterated individuality. For most, it takes courage to be one's authentic self in a world where everyone thinks, acts, and strives to look like everyone else. I'm not deterred in the least, no. I strive to exist in that all-encompassing ever-expansive bliss of bucking the zeitgeist and just doing me.

"So I've decided I'm now in my 'who cares what they say' era, my 'because I can' era. Because at the end of it all, we always admire the originators: the ones who write their own stories."

Earlier in the day she'd also posted a video of herself enjoying a midnight dip. In the video's caption, she wrote: "I finally feel like I found my place and my people" as she added "there's nothing like swimming outside in the warmth of the night in California".

Banks' cousin and mum raised the alarm of her disappearance after they failed to get in touch with her for two weeks. Cousin Danielle-Tori Singh told ABC7 News: "Five days without hearing from my cousin is red flags and alarm bells. She doesn't go more than 48 hours without speaking to me or her mom...That girl is more like a big sister to me."

Banks, who appeared on shows such as Gossip Girl and Blue Bloods, had been living with her husband of one year before family said they suddenly stopped hearing from her on October 30. They are said to have found her belongings, including her car and dog at her property. However, they had been unable to locate her laptop and phone.

Singh added that she believes in her gut that "something is not right". "We're crossing two weeks now without a word, without a sound. Nothing," she continued to tell ABC7 News. There has also been a GoFundMe page set up to help with the search and in it Singh claims Banks' husband has been less than helpful. The GoFundMe page was set up by Singh to help hire a private investigator.
