The 67th annual Grammy Awards, music’s night of nights got underway in Los Angeles, a city left reeling by a natural disaster, a fact that was never far from the minds of those present.
But that didn’t stop the biggest names in music from dressing up, or in some cases, down.

They weren’t invited to the Grammys and were eventually escorted out but not before Kanye West and his Australian partner, Bianca Censori set the internet on fire with their uncensored arrival on the red carpet.
She was naked. Well, pretty much naked aside from an extended nylon stocking across her bum and boobs. It was more disturbing than disruptive.
Tears flow for Cynthia Erivo. Again.
In a slightly more wholesome Grammy’s moment, two mini-Grammy winners met their idol, Cynthia Erivo and the tears flowed. Not Cynthia’s for once.
Phoebe and Ava from The Family Jam Band won Best Children’s Album and then met their hero.
When asked why loves Cynthia, Pheobe replied, “She does everything from her heart and soul and it registers with everyone who is watching her”
Pass the tissues.
Chappell Roan sets the record straight
Looking like a Gen Z Maid Marian, Chapell called out music labels for failing to support up-and-coming artists.
While accepting the Grammy Award for Best New Artist she said: “I told myself that if I ever won a Grammy and got to stand up here before the most powerful people in music, I would demand that labels in the industry profiting millions of dollars off artists would offer a liveable wage and health care”.
As the crowd cheered wildly, she continued, “Labels, we got you, but do you got us?”
Beyonce’s reaction to winning best country album
Beyonce spawned 1000 memes with her genuinely stunned reaction to winning Best Country album for Cowboy Carter.
Having Taylor Swift present the awards was the icing on the music cake.
The Smith Family
Jaden Smith arrived on the red carpet in a headpiece shaped like a house/castle. Something for Reserve Bank Governor Michelle Bullock’s next press conference perhaps?
His dad, Will Smith also returned to the awards stage for the first time since that Oscars slap. Despite the heartfelt tribute to Quincy Jones, you could almost see the necks craning around to see if Chris Rock was in the room.
Tributes to the Titan
Quincy Jones left an indelible mark on music and the tributes reflected his enormous contribution.
Cynthia Erivo with a powerhouse, “Fly Me to the Moon”; Lainey Wilson performed a cover of “Let the Good Times Roll”; Stevie Wonder singing “We are the World” alongside choirs from two schools destroyed in the LA fires and supported by every artists singing along in the room; finishing with Janelle Monae’s unbelievable “Thriller”.
Fire Aid
It was always going to be a delicate balance between a glitzy awards show and the devastating wildfires in LA.
The Grammys became a telethon of sorts with donations from the audience watching and music superstars in the room.
The musical tributes and mentions culminated in members of the County of Los Angeles Fire Department presenting the Album of the Year to.. Beyonce.
Queen Bee’s moment
It finally happened.
Beyonce won Album of the Year for Cowboy Carter.
You could see the genuine relief on everyone’s faces that one of the biggest names in music finally received the biggest recognition in music after what she described as “many, many years”.
Benson Boone’s Flip Out
Get this man a free pass to Bounce.
First Heidi Klum helped him strip off and then Benson Boone back flipped of a piano in a baby blue sequinned jumpsuit.
Didn’t miss a beat. Now that is entertainment.
