The Grammys must go on.
As the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles County rage on, news broke that the annual music awards ceremony “will proceed as planned” at the Crypto.com Arena on Feb. 2.
Recording Academy and MusiCares CEO Harvey Mason Jr. and Board of Trustees Chair Tammy Hurt released a statement Monday, shared by CNN Reporter Elizabeth Wagmeister via X.
The duo wrote that the Grammys “will carry a renewed sense of purpose” while working “in close coordination with local authorities to ensure public safety and responsible use of area resources.”
The awards show’s new goal is to raise “additional funds to support wildfire relief efforts and honor the bravery and dedication of first responders who risk their lives to protect ours.”
The statement noted, “In challenging times, music has the power to heal, comfort, and unite like nothing else.”

The statement concluded, “The Grammys will not only honor the artistry and achievements of our music community but also serve as a platform to amplify the spirit of resilience that defies the great city of Los Angeles.”
Variety also reported Monday that the Oscars remain scheduled for March 2 — although the nominations have been delayed.
“The Academy has always been a unifying force within the film industry, and we are committed to standing together in the face of hardship,” Academy CEO Bill Kramer and Academy President Janet Yang wrote in a joint statement.
Academy Award nominees will be revealed on Thurs, Jan. 23, at 5:30 a.m. PT.
The Annual Oscar Nominees Luncheon, set for Feb. 10, has, however, been canceled.
As for the Scientific and Technical Awards on Feb. 18, that event has been postponed to an undetermined later date. A decision on the SAG Awards, scheduled for Feb. 23, has yet to be announced.
Wildfires have been raging in LA since last week, with more than 100,000 individuals forced to evacuate and 24 killed.
Milo Ventimiglia, Leighton Meester, Paris Hilton, Spencer Pratt and more celebrities have all lost their homes due to the flames.
The devastation is ongoing as the area’s infamous Santa Ana winds picked up again on Monday and are expected through Wednesday.
