Global reinsurer Hannover Re has appointed Angela Jaramillo as an Associate Underwriter within its Capital Markets and insurance-linked securities (ILS) team.
Jaramillo, has been with the reinsurer since 2021, having most recently served as an Associate Underwriter for the company’s property and casualty (P&C) Treaty Underwriting team for Latin America, Spain and Portugal.
In addition, Jaramillo previously worked at broker JLT Re between 2013 to 2015.
She joined the firm in April 2013 as a Reinsurance Treaties Assistant, before later going on to become a Junior Broker/Account Handler within the broker’s non-marine treaty team, where she was based in London.
During her last year with JLT Re, Jaramillo served as an Actuarial Analyst, where she primarily dealt with P&C Reinsurance Treaties Pricing for tenders for Lloyd’s Syndicates Programmes, natural catastrophe pools and international insurers and reinsurers.
She has now moved across to Hannover Re’s Capital Markets and insurance-linked securities team, where she will presumably work on opportunities that see the reinsurer partnering with ILS investors or ceding risk to ILS markets.
In recent years, Hannover Re has become one of the most important facilitators within the global ILS market.
The reinsurer’s work helps cedents with their catastrophe bond transactions, by fronting the capital markets, and also utilising its balance-sheet to help other ILS fund managers and investors access reinsurance and retrocessional risk in collateralised form.
Furthermore, Hannover Re’s position as a facilitator for the ILS market continued to grow last year, through its fronting and risk transformation activities for collateralised reinsurance and catastrophe bond transactions.
Earlier this month, the reinsurer returned to the catastrophe bond market in search of $175 million or more in broad retrocession covering worldwide peak perils on an annual aggregate basis, from a 3264 Re Ltd. (Series 2025-1) transaction that is being offered to investors.
