Often, when you flash or install a new Android update on your Pixel, there are intended and unintended consequences. One of those is battery longevity, but with Android 15, do you see improved battery life on your Pixel after updating?
Since the October 15 launch and rollout, anyone with a Pixel 6 device or newer should now be able to update to Google’s latest OS. By previous years’ standards, Android 15 is a small update. It’s focused on the refinement and enhancement of the experience. It’s smoother, cleaner, and overall more efficient.
Whether that efficiency has resulted in better battery with Pixel phones since installing Android 15 remains to be seen. Anecdotally, the daily lifespan seems to have improved on Pixel 9, 9 Pro, 9 Pro XL, and 9 Pro Fold – per what we’re seeing here with our team. Older devices with more wear and tear might not see marked improvements, but any gains here will undoubtedly be felt if you have been experiencing poor lifespan prior to installing Android 15.
Often, the placebo effect rears its head around update time. I’ve fallen foul of this in the past, thinking that my phone battery has improved only for it to tank just a few days later or revert to past lifespan problems – the Pixel 4 series certainly springs to mind.
With that said, sometimes, a fresh OS install can be enough to flush out some problematic apps and services with better compatibility. Security patches are also important for preventing potentially malicious apps or processes from running in the background, draining your battery, and, in some serious cases, causing bigger issues than battery life.
With all that in mind, are you seeing better battery life on your Pixel phone now that you have updated to Android 15? Let us know using the survey below or tell us your experience so far via the comment section.
