A dachshund's adventurous hike up three different mountains with his owners has delighted viewers online.
The dachshund, named Dougie, was captured accompanying his owners up the U.K.'s three highest mountains: Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon. Each of the mountains is located in one of the U.K.'s nations; with Ben Nevis being in Scotland, Scafell Pike homed in England and Snowdon found in Wales.
Viewers online have been left gobsmacked by the dachshund's nimble sprints up each of the mountains, and his sense of ease when met with strong winds and rain. The post, which was shared to Instagram under the username @dougiesdashcam on October 1, has been liked more than 8,000 times.
Viewers were able to see Dougie, with the support of his owners, making his way up each of the three mountains. While he appeared to have been carried for much of the journey, he was filmed sprinting up some parts of the hikes, which he took on in a variety of snug sweaters. The short clip plays against a trending punk tune, comically drawing on the dachshund's feisty darts up the three peaks.
Viewers on Instagram have flooded the comments section with their awe at the small-sized dog's endurance and determination to keep up with his owners in difficult terrain.
"Don't let their cute facade fool you! Dachshunds are tough as old boots! We took ours to the peaks amongst other places and he loves the climbs," one viewer said.
Another added: "We took our little dachshund up the peaks in the lakes, someone said that's mean. People underestimate how hardy and tough these little dogs are. Top props for completing all three peaks."
"Smashed it! Our boy does them all too with no bother. He even did six Scottish mountains in a week. We have to bet how many times people will say "look at his poor little legs'," a third viewer said'
Another added: "The only problem hiking with my dachshund is that he puts our much longer legs to shame with his fitness and endurance."
"They are an amazing working breed," another said. "I used to go running for miles and miles with Peanut, and he barely broke sweat.
"Yes, I did have a couple of comments about his poor little legs, but make mistake, they are real dogs! I just love them."
