It’s hard to believe, but Season 18 of Real Housewives of Orange County is almost over. And star Heather Dubrow was definitely a main player. Paparazzi-gate was a sticking point between her and newbie Katie Ginella. Heather was one of the few allies to Tamra Judge when others came and went. She also went toe to toe with Jennifer Pedranti over the cost of her D&G dress when Jenn claimed she was having money troubles. However, Heather also wanted to bring awareness to the LGBTQ+ community. And she and her husband, Terry Dubrow, have some more advice they’d like to share on that matter.
Heather and Terry Dubrow say “communication” is key for parents of LGBTQ+ kids
One of the cast trips of the season was courtesy of Heather. She took the group to wine country to walk the runway to raise awareness for Family Equity. Of course, there was also some drama between her and Emily Simpson regarding a dress size. Still, the event went off without a hitch.
Even though Heather and Terry might have a few disputes, they come together for their LGBTQ+ children. The two spoke with People about using RHOC for a good cause. Terry said, “I am actually grateful for the platform that Heather has with Housewives. It allows us to support the LGBTQ community.”
He added, “Our family is very, very involved with it. And not a lot of platforms would necessarily allow you to support them in that way. So with love and support, we just feel very blessed to be part of the community.” Heather also shared her concerns after the recent elections.
She said, “These … challenging times [are] concerning for all families. I think the most important thing is to stay in our community and keep talking to each other and reaching out to friends and making sure people are good.” Terry chimed in, “And showing what a normal family looks like, especially during the holidays.”
Heather shared the advice she would “give to any parent, no matter who or what their kids are or identify as, is communication.” She also wanted to show viewers a look into their lives. Heather said, “I think anyone with a platform that can help other families and show them what all of our normal families look like is awesome.”
Real Housewives of Orange County is available to stream on Peacock.
