Here’s How Meri Brown Moves on From Kody and Flagstaff

4 hours ago 6

After 30 years of marital bliss with Kody Brown, his first wife, Meri Brown, is finally moving forward. In reality, Meri hadn’t been happy for a very long time, but she continued to stick to Kody’s side in a show of moral support. But once it became obvious that the polygamous patriarch was no longer attracted to the mother of one, she had to make some tough calls. Now, almost a year out of her marriage, the Sister Wives star is reflecting on what finally made her change her mind and embrace life as a single woman.

Meri Brown is making moves

It turns out it is easier to leave a town like Flagstaff when you have no one there worth staying for. For the few years Meri lived there, she found it hard to make genuine connections. During a new Sister Wives episode, Meri was filmed moving from Arizona back to Utah, where her historic inn is located. And even though she might have regretted her divorce for a hot second, Meri revealed to People that she wouldn’t be sorry to go. The TLC star stated, “Nope. Not at all. Flagstaff was—it’s beautiful. We all know I love the trees. Watch any season, and you’ll know Meri loves the trees. And it’s beautiful. It really is.” But it was obvious that the city was never really Meri’s home.

She added, “I lived there for three or four years, and I never made any friends there. It just wasn’t for me. I moved there because the family did. It was not ever on my radar, ‘Oh, Flagstaff, Arizona. We should live there.’” Sister Wives viewers will recall that Kody made the abrupt decision to uproot the family from the Las Vegas cul-de-sac in order to follow Robyn Brown’s son to college. None of the wives except his fourth, wanted to leave Sin City.

Meri Brown is finding her place

Meri continued: “I think it’s really important to find your place, especially in this age that we’re in. We’re all in our 50s, it’s like, ‘Just find your place. Do what makes you happy.’” The rate at which Meri left Flagstaff made perfect sense, as she already owned her home in Parowan. When Meri first purchased Lizzie’s Heritage Inn, many of the Browns felt she was selfish about the family money. But Meri put those rumors to rest, too, saying, “Contrary to popular belief in my family, I did not buy it as an escape route. Just putting that out there. I did buy it because it was always a dream of mine to have my old family home back in the family, so it made sense at the time.”

For Meri, the time finally came to separate herself from Kody and Robyn. For years, fans wondered if Robyn was manipulating Meri into staying. The mother of one shared, “Why keep living in a town where I don’t know anybody, I don’t have friends? Kody and I are completely separating. I’m not going to be a part of the family. There’s no point in me being there. And I had a house in Parowan, so let’s do that. And I gave myself two years to just settle and then figure stuff out. We’re coming up on two years.”

Meri Brown can have a fresh start

Meri has always been a hard Sister Wives star to get behind. She was never as likable as Janelle Brown or Christine Brown due to her stand-off attitude. When it came to her close friends, it often felt like she only wanted “yes men” in her corner. But if she is really going to make her move from Flagstaff work, she will have to put herself out there. Hopefully, she can embrace her new journey and stop posting cryptic social media posts because no one enjoys reading them anyway. Meri needs to wholeheartedly not look back.

Even though Sister Wives fans have watched Robyn cry her crocodile tears over the loss of her friendship, Meri has to stay strong. No amount of homemade journals can win her back. Personally, I think this is the end of an era with the TLC series. The entire family is spread far and wide, and it might just be time to put this chapter behind them. For Meri, this would mean a completely new start where she doesn’t have to live under Kody’s thumb. Good luck, M!
