How Close (Or Not) Was Dustin Pedroia To Earning Hall Of Fame Enshrinement?

3 hours ago 2

Dustin Pedroia earned enough Hall of Fame votes to stay on the ballot for a second year, but how close was the Boston Red Sox legend to earning enshrinement?

Well, not that close.

Pedroia received 11.9% of the vote in his first year on the Hall of Fame ballot. Players must earn at least 5% of the vote to stay on the ballot and 75% to earn enshrinement.

Ichiro Suzuki (99.7%), C.C. Sabathia (86.8%) and Billy Wagner (82.5%) were the only players elected to the Hall of Fame's 2025 class.

Pedroia enjoyed a fantastic 14-year career with the Red Sox.

The diminutive second baseman earned one American League MVP Award, one AL Rookie of the Year Award, four AL Gold Glove Awards and four All-Star Game appearances. Pedroia, a three-time World Series champion, finished with a .299 batting average along with 140 home runs and an .805 OPS. He was on a Hall of Fame trajectory before suffering a knee injury that derailed the final three seasons of his career.

The following 10 players will be removed from the ballot after failing to reach the 5% threshold: Ian Kinsler, Russell Martin, Brian McCann, Troy Tulowitzki, Curtis Granderson, Adam Jones, Carlos Gonzalez, Hanley Ramirez, Fernando Rodney and Ben Zobrist.
