According to Celebrity Net Worth, Timothée is worth approximately $25 million.
How Did Timothée Chalamet Get His Start?
Prior to his Hollywood fame, Timothée attended New York City’s LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts, known for its famous alumni from Nicki Minaj to Jennifer Anniston. In fact, the Dune actor was initially rejected by the competitive school! However, one teacher had his back.
“He was extraordinarily gifted,” Timothée’s drama teacher and mentor Harry Shifman told The Post in January 2019.“I found it outrageous that someone so brilliant could fall through the cracks. I’m grateful the principal was open to my demands and tantrums [to get Timothée accepted]. I’m sure she realizes now she made the right decision. Timothée was destined to be an actor.”
Following LaGuardia, he attended attended Columbia University for a year, majoring in cultural anthropology, however, he later transferred to New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study to pursue his acting career.
“I had a delusional dream in my early teenage years to have, in my late teenage years, an acting career,” he told British Vogue in September 2022. “And in my late teenage years, working on Homeland and starting to do theatre in New York, I felt like I reduced my goal to something more realistic, which was to work in theatre and hopefully make enough money doing either a TV show or something I could sustain myself [with]. And then it felt like every dream came true, exponentially. And then life is moving at six million miles per hour.”
He eventually dropped out of New York University, and nabbed one of his first leading roles in Luca Guadagnino‘s coming-of-age film Call Me by Your Name in 2017, which earned him a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Actor.
Following that, he starred in Greta Gerwig‘s films Lady Bird and Little Women, took on a lead role in the biopic Beautiful Boy in 2018. He then booked Denis Villeneuve‘s science fiction film Dune in 2021, and its sequel Dune: Part Two in 2024. He’s played Willy Wonka in musical fantasy film Wonka and portrayed Bob Dylan in the biographical drama A Complete Unknown, which he also produced.
